John’s career began in the United Kingdom, where he served honorably for six years in Military Intelligence. He completed tours in the UK, Germany and South American regions, specializing in both Operational Intelligence and Counterintelligence.
Following his service in intelligence, John worked as a consultant for one of the largest financial institutions in the U.S.. There, he was part of the organization’s Enterprise Third Party Risk Management team, conducting assessments and working with the organization’s suppliers to assess and manage risk.
John specializes in the areas of governance risk and compliance, cloud security, vendor risk management physical security and mitigating against vehicle-born terrorism.
John is a member of two separate non-profit boards, where he provides board-level guidance on cybersecurity and compliance issues. He is also chairman of the SubRosa Cyber Solutions board of directors.
Entrepreneurial and client-focused, John understands the security challenges faced by clients and organizations alike. He supports corporate strategy from concept through to deliverance of high-quality services in order to meet the needs of each client.
As Chief of Staff, Alex is responsible for ensuring that all services are delivered to SubRosa’s clients in line with our services agreements. He is the technical point of contact for all activities and services client-facing.
Alex is a former member of the United States Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER), where he served as a Team Leader on the National Support Team in Honolulu, HI. Alex commanded a 32-person team in the conduct of Computer Network Operations (CNO) and provided nation-level policy recommendations to Joint Force Commanders and the Office of the President of the United States in support of the national defense.
Prior to this, Alex was a Mission Commander in Fort Meade, MD, where he led a 12-person special-mission team in the conduct of CNO. In this role, he planned and executed over 110 CNO across more than 10 critical regions worldwide, resulting in the capture of enemy personnel and the recovery of high-profile hostages.
Don Polyak is the SubRosa CMO and principal of The Impact Group, a full-service marketing communications firm that he co-founded in 2001. Prior to The Impact Group, Don led the business operations for Bacon’s Information and leverages this experience with his political campaign background to deliver innovative methods of marketing.
Jim Mastro, Director, Sales and Business Development
James Mastro is the Director of Business Development and Sales. As a sales management professional, Jim has over 35 years of experience in solution and complex sales. He mentors and coaches salespeople on how to achieve business outcomes for their customers. John is an expert in blending people, processes and technology to create a world-class sales organization. He has been successful in large, small to medium and startup organizations. As an out-of-the-box thinker, John has increased sales and revenues for numerous companies with which he has been associated. In addition, he was an independent contractor for one of the world’s leading organizations for strategic sales and sales process design training and implementation. He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana and an MBA from Loyola University, Chicago.
Dan Owings, Managing Director, International Sales
Dan is responsible for international sales and channel recruitment and management. Building a highly effective global network, Dan provides the guidance and management support to grow channel sales. A global business “strategist,” he has developed high-performing programs for multinational clients in the areas of key account management best practices, metric-based strategic account planning, account segmentation, channel management and customer loyalty.
Dan holds a B.S. in business administration from the University of Maryland, an MBA with a concentration in marketing and finance from Loyola University, Chicago and has completed graduate studies in international business at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
